Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 28, 2026
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect basic information such as your name, email address, and password. We also collect usage data — like which features you interact with and when you log in — to help us improve the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your account information to provide, maintain, and improve MyFi. This includes authenticating your sessions, processing billing, communicating service updates, and analyzing aggregate usage patterns to make the product better.
3. Financial Data & Plaid
This is the most important section of our privacy policy. MyFi is designed so that your financial data never lives on our servers.
- When you sync your accounts, your request passes through our server to Plaid. The financial data Plaid returns — transactions, balances, and account details — is transmitted directly to your device.
- MyFi acts as a passthrough. We facilitate the connection to Plaid but do not store, log, or retain your financial data on our servers.
- Your transaction history, balances, and account numbers are stored locally on your device in a database that only you control.
- We never sell, share, or mine your financial data — because we never have it.
Plaid's connection to your bank is governed by their own privacy practices. You can review Plaid's End User Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your banking credentials and data.
4. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your account information, including encrypted connections (TLS), secure password hashing, and regular security reviews. Because your financial data is stored locally on your device, its security also depends on your own device protections — we recommend keeping your operating system and browser up to date.
5. Third-Party Services
MyFi integrates with the following third-party services:
- Plaid — to connect to your financial institutions and retrieve transaction data.
- Stripe — to process payments for account credits. We do not store your payment card details; Stripe handles this securely.
- Analytics — we may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the application is used. No financial data is included in analytics.
6. Cookies & Local Storage
We use cookies to manage your authentication session. Your financial data is stored in your browser's local storage or IndexedDB — these are on-device storage mechanisms that are not transmitted to our servers. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your account data at any time through the application.
- Delete your account and all associated data stored on our servers by contacting us.
- Export your locally stored financial data at any time — it already lives on your device.
- Revoke Plaid access to your bank accounts through the Plaid portal or by contacting us.
8. Children's Privacy
MyFi is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the application or by email. Your continued use of MyFi after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact
